Vasilikon Winery
Established in 1993 by brothers Heracles, Georgios and Giannis Kyriakides, Vasilikon Winery is one of the oldest wineries in the Paphos region. Set in the Akamas Laona area of the Paphos district, the winery covers about 4000 m², boasting wine production facilities, cellars, a bar serving estate wines and cold mezze, and a wine museum, which depicts how wine-making traditions have evolved throughout the years in Cyprus. The winery produces more than 350 000 wine bottles annually.
The Wines of Vasilikon Winery
Vasilikon Winery currently produces four types of wine:
- Agios Onoufrios is a deep purple wine, which blends Maratheftiko, Lefkada, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Shiraz, and Merlot. It is a full-bodied wine, with a vivid aroma, best paired with red meats and semi-hard cheeses.
- Vasilikon White Dry is made with indigenous Xinisteri grapes. It is a well-balanced wine with a fruity aroma of apricot and peach and a long aftertaste.
- Methy Cabernet Sauvignon is a deep red wine aged for two years in French oak barrels, then spending two more years in bottles to reach full maturity. It is a masculine wine, with aromas of green pepper, capers, and red fruits.
- Einalia Rosé is a blend of Maratheftiko and Shiraz. It is a pomegranate-coloured wine with fresh floral character and vibrant aromas of red fruits.
The Vasilikon Winery is a favourite stop on the route from Peyia to Kathikas. Visitors enjoy wine tastings, visiting the museum, as well as the beautiful views of the valley at sunset. Due to its location, the winery is a popular wedding venue, with a capacity of circa 200 guests.
