Tsangarides Winery
With wines consistently selected among the best in Cyprus, Tsangarides Winery in Lemona is a must for oenophiles. It’s a traditional family business run by sister and brother Loukia and Angelos Tsangarides and specializing in modern wines brewed from Mataro and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Plus, they have superb Chardonnays and Xynisteris.
Tsangarides Winery: Exceptional Organic Wines
Established in 2005, the Tsangarides Winery is a relatively new wine producing facility, yet they make about 200000 bottles per year. Despite increased popularity with Cyprus visitors, the owners maintain affordable prices for their award-winning wines.
Tsangarides Winery’s Xynisteri wines are exceptional, offering that “taste of Paphos” you long for as a oenophile. Most of their wines are organic, and the vineyards grow on the lands prepared by the very grandfather of the Tsangarides. The winery offers free tours daily.
But you cannot leave without tasting their organic wines. They have a great way of presenting their specials: a price list on every bottle served at your table. Most wines cost €10 € or €100 per a 12-bottle case – and they bottle everything in-house, in the basement cellar.
The décor is minimalist and tasteful. The Tsangarides Winery itself is located at the edge of the village, boasting fantastic views of the Troodos foothills.
At the 10th Cyprus Wine Competition in 2017, the winery landed two gold prizes for the Tsangarides Xynisteri 2016 and the Tsangarides Chardonnay 2016. But try their celebrated Shiraz Rosé too – it may not be 100% organic, but it’s an impressive wine all in all. Every vintage boasts different artworks by local artists.
